About Tim
A practical approach shaped by competition, education, and applied sport psychology
Tim works with athletes who want to compete with more confidence, composure, and consistency. His work is grounded in two places: firsthand experience in high-level sport and professional training in sport and performance psychology.
Work With Tim
Why competition experience matters
He understands what performance pressure feels like from the inside
Before his work in mental performance, Tim lived the athlete side of competition. He competed in soccer and cricket before becoming an elite middle-distance runner, where the demands were clear: prepare well, handle pressure, respond to setbacks, and perform when the race asked for it.
His own athletic career included becoming British National 800 meter Champion, NCAA Division I 800 meter Runner-Up, a sub-4 minute miler, an Iona University Hall of Fame inductee, and a Team Great Britain World Indoor Championships competitor.
Those experiences help Tim relate to athletes without needing to overstate the story. He knows what it is like to care deeply, to chase the next level, to feel expectations rise, and to learn that physical preparation alone does not always explain performance.
Tim's approach is not simply advice from a former athlete. He holds a Doctorate in Sport and Performance Psychology and is a Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC), which means he has met professional standards for education and applied work in mental performance consulting through the Association for Applied Sport Psychology.
That training helps turn lived experience into a structured process. Athletes are not just told to be tougher, more confident, or more positive. They learn how to build skills for focus, confidence, pressure, self-talk, routines, motivation, emotional regulation, and responding to mistakes.
Tim is also certified in the Sport DISC Behavioral Assessment, which supports behavioral awareness, communication, and flexibility in performance environments.
Professional training
His work is informed by sport and performance psychology, not only personal experience
Why this matters to athletes
The work stays practical because it connects real sport demands with trained mental skills
Athletes often need more than motivation. They need a way to understand what happens under pressure, choose a useful response, and practice mental skills until those skills can travel into training and competition.
Tim's background helps him meet athletes in that space. He can relate to the intensity of competition, while also bringing a professional framework for developing the mental side with intention.
Working with Tim
Support for athletes who want the mental side to become more trainable
The goal is to help athletes build mental skills they can use before, during, and after performance, especially when pressure, uncertainty, or mistakes show up.
