Testimonials from coaches and athletes

Coach Marty Kinsey
“As a Division I coach, I’ve learned that talent and fitness alone rarely determine who performs at their best when it matters most. The mental side of competition is often the difference between meeting expectations and exceeding them. Working with Dr. Bayley has been one of the best investments we’ve made in our program. His ability to help athletes build confidence, manage pressure, and perform with clarity under the biggest moments has been extraordinary. He has an incredible gift for unlocking potential that athletes don’t always realize they possess. As coaches, we spend countless hours developing the physical side of performance. Dr. Bayley complements that work by strengthening the mental side with the same level of expertise. Our athletes have become more composed, resilient, and confident on race day, allowing their training to translate into performances that truly reflect their capabilities rather than the anxiety of the moment. The impact of his work extends well beyond competition. Our athletes have grown as competitors, leaders, and people because of the mindset and tools he has given them. Dr. Bayley has become an invaluable resource for our program, and I recommend him without reservation to any athlete, coach, or team striving to maximize performance and achieve their full potential.”

“Bringing Tim Bayley into our program at Newbury Park was one of the best decisions we made. He played a key role in helping establish the culture and mindset that became the foundation of our success. While physical training is essential, Tim reinforced something that is often overlooked: the power of the mind. He helped our athletes develop confidence, resilience, composure, and the mental skills needed to perform at their best when it mattered most. Too often, coaches and athletes focus almost exclusively on physical preparation while overlooking one of the greatest performance tools they have: their mindset. Tim gave our athletes practical strategies to embrace challenges, handle pressure, and believe in themselves. His impact extended far beyond race day, helping shape not only better competitors but more confident and resilient young people. His work had a lasting impact on our program, and I believe mental performance is one of the most important and underutilized components of athletic success.”

“Having Dr. Bayley come to Bluegrass Running Camp elevated the experience for all of our campers. As a professional runner, I know how important the mental side of the sport is. Pre-race anxiety, self-doubt, and staying focused in a chaotic environment are things the best athletes in our sport have mastered. High school athletes struggle with these challenges every day. As camp directors, when we were deciding what kind of guest speakers we wanted to bring to camp, having someone focus on the mental side of the sport was our top priority. Dr. Bayley broke the camp down into small groups so he could connect with each individual, even in a crowded environment, and guide each group through his presentation. He used real-life examples and provided cues the athletes could take outside of the classroom and apply to their training and racing long after camp had ended. That was very important to us as camp directors. We wanted our athletes to learn skills they could use not just during the week of camp, but throughout the entire season. On top of the mental performance sessions Dr. Bayley led, he was also a major asset during our drills and running form analysis. Dr. Bayley was a world class athlete himself before beginning his career in sports psychology, so he knows exactly what it takes to perform at the highest level. Dr. Bayley directed the campers through drills and wickets while helping them improve their stride and running form, skills they can continue to build on long after leaving camp. Another way Dr. Bayley elevated Bluegrass Running Camp was through his daily meditation practice. Each evening, we gathered the campers, and Dr. Bayley led them through a guided meditation that helped them center themselves and prepare for recovery before heading to bed. The campers were able to relax, reset, and mentally prepare for the challenges of the next day. Dr. Bayley has been a part of Bluegrass Running Camp for four years now, and there is a reason he is our first call each year when we put together our schedule. He teaches valuable skills through hands-on activities that elevate the camp experience for every single one of our campers.”
